Extensive farming experience, obtained as a farm supervisor or specialized crop or livestock worker or by working on a farm, is usually required.
A university degree in agricultural management or other field related to crop or livestock production may be required.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Supervise staff, monitor crops and animals, and handle various administrative tasks.
Responsible to look after poultry, dairy farms. It is their essential duty to ensure that the animals living on the farm are well looked after and that they do not have any diseases.
They prepare budgets, purchase supplies, maintain relationships with vendors and clients, and ensure maximum profitability.
Responsible for the daily planning, organization, supervision and administration of activities on farm estates.
Budgeting and maintaining accurate financial records
Organizing sales and purchases of livestock, farm equipment, crops and agricultural products
Purchase farm machinery, livestock, seed, feed and other supplies.Handling paperwork and keeping administrative records
Recruiting, training/instructing and supervising farm workers
ensuring compliance with government regulations and health and safety standards
Keeping an up-to-date knowledge of pests and diseases.
Ensuring that the farm is profitable and meets projected financial targets
Organising maintenance/repair of farm property, equipment and machinery.
Primarily look after the farms and all the other related agricultural activities. It is their duty to ensure that the farm is being run smoothly and that there are no hurdles on the way
