Oversee and manage day-to-day dyeing operations of continuous dyeing range (CDR), double decker, and E-control machines.
Plan, allocate, and monitor production schedules based on order requirements and machine capacities.
Optimize recipes and process parameters for different fabric types (cotton, viscose, blends).
Ensure minimal shade variation, reprocess, and right-first-time (RFT) dyeing targets.
Coordinate with planning, marketing, and QC teams for execution and feedback.
2. Quality Assurance
Implement in-process quality control (IPQC) measures.
Ensure compliance with customer specifications, SOPs, and quality plans.
Collaborate with QA/QC for shade approval, fastness testing, and defect root-cause analysis.
Maintain documentation related to fabric shade continuity, GSM, shrinkage, and process history.
3. Cost, Chemical, and Utility Optimization
Monitor and control usage of dyes, auxiliaries, steam, water, and power.
Implement cost-saving initiatives (zero re-dye, reuse of wash liquor, heat recovery).
Work closely with chemical store, utility, and ETP teams to ensure efficient material and resource management.
4. Team Leadership & Skill Development
Supervise dyeing managers, supervisors, and operators across all shifts.
Conduct training on machine operation, recipe management, and troubleshooting.
Develop team performance metrics (KPI/KRA) and implement operator grading system.
5. Compliance & Documentation (IMS)
Ensure compliance with IMS documentation as per ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001.
Conduct and participate in audits (internal, external, buyer, statutory).
Maintain SOPs, risk assessments, emergency plans, environmental aspect-impact registers, and HIRA for dyeing operations.
Track and report NCs, CAPAs, and continual improvement projects.
6. Safety, Health & Environment
Ensure compliance with safety norms, PPE usage, machine interlocks, and emergency response plans.
Coordinate with EHS and HR teams for fire drills, chemical spill drills, and health checkups.
Promote green initiatives such as chemical-free pre-treatments, sustainable dyes, and ETP coordination.
7. SAP and MIS Reporting
Approve and monitor production and chemical issue entries in SAP.
Generate daily/weekly/monthly production, efficiency, and downtime reports.
Monitor and analyze key metrics like reprocess %, productivity (m/hr), energy/fabric ratios.
Key Skills & Competencies:
In-depth knowledge of continuous dyeing machines (Thermosol, Pad-Steam, Pad-Dry).
Expertise in reactive, disperse, and vat dyeing systems.
Data-driven approach for productivity improvement and problem-solving (6?, Kaizen).
Excellent leadership, communication, and cross-functional coordination skills.
Strong understanding of IMS documentation and compliance systems.
Educational Qualification:
B.Tech / M.Tech in Textile Technology or Chemical Engineering
Certification in ISO/IMS/QMS/EHS (preferred)
Experience:
Minimum
15+ years
of experience in fabric dyeing (continuous and batch), with at least
5 years in a senior managerial role
