Your role involves guiding a team of technology professionals focused on driving impactful outcomes and delivering exceptional solutions to our clients. You will coach, mentor, and empower your team to excel in their roles, cultivate a culture of technical excellence, and drive high-performance engineering teams to success. Additionally, you will play a key role in promoting best practices, driving continuous improvement, and shaping the technical direction of projects to achieve business objectives.What you will do:

  • Lead the development, testing, and maintenance of mainframe applications using COBOL, JCL, VSAM, CICS, and DB2.
  • Collaborate closely with business and compliance teams, interfacing applications, and product managers to gather requirements. Analyse requirements and translate them into detailed technical specifications.
  • Design, code, unit test, and implement changes while providing ongoing support.
  • Handling of the production abends and providing the resolutions with in the SLAs.
  • Write and execute unit test scenarios to ensure code quality and reliability.
  • Optimize application performance for efficient resource use.
  • Troubleshoot and debug code to resolve technical issues.
  • Conduct thorough code reviews, offering constructive feedback and fostering adherence to coding standards and best practices among team members.
  • Mentor and train junior and mid-level developers, nurturing their skills and supporting their growth through knowledge sharing and hands-on guidance.
  • Stay ahead of industry trends and emerging technologies, advocating for innovative solutions and methodologies to enhance the development process and product offerings.
  • Lead architectural discussions and design sessions, providing technical direction and ensuring alignment with organizational goals and best engineering practices.
What you will need to have:
  • Bachelors degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience); advanced degrees or relevant certifications are a plus.
  • 6+ years of experience in mainframe development using COBOL, JCL, VSAM, CICS, and DB2.
  • 6+ years of experience utilizing mainframe utilities for development and maintenance.
  • 6+ years of experience in gathering and analysing requirements and translating them into technical specifications.
  • 6+ years of experience in designing, coding, testing, and implementing mainframe applications.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal.
What would be great to have:
  • 6+ years of experience optimizing mainframe application performance.
  • 6+ years of comprehensive understanding of all lifecycle components (code, test, deploy).
  • Experience presenting designs and technical solutions to stakeholders.
  • Certifications in mainframe technologies or related fields.
  • Excellent leadership skills with a proven track record of driving successful projects and initiatives in a collaborative environment.
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, challenging environment with evolving priorities.
