Job Description

An Admission Counselor is responsible for guiding prospective students and their families through the school's enrollment process, with specialized knowledge of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) curriculum and regulations. This includes explaining the curriculum, admission requirements, and helping to achieve student enrollment targets.

Key roles and responsibilities



Student and parent counseling:

Serve as the primary point of contact for inquiries via phone, email, and in-person meetings. Advise families on the CBSE curriculum, academic programs, and subject stream choices for higher grades (e.g., Science, Commerce, Humanities).

Admissions process management:

Manage the complete admissions cycle, from initial inquiry to final enrollment. This includes coordinating entrance tests and interviews and assisting with documentation.

Curriculum-specific guidance:

Provide information on the CBSE syllabus, the grading system, and board examination preparation. Explain the Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation (CCE) pattern where applicable.

Compliance with CBSE guidelines:

Ensure all admissions processes adhere to CBSE rules regarding age criteria, class eligibility, and documentation like transfer certificates and report cards.

Reporting and administration:

Maintain accurate records of inquiries, applications, and admissions. Update student information in the school's management system and generate reports for management.

Marketing and outreach:

Participate in admission events, educational fairs, and seminars to promote the school and its CBSE curriculum. Build relationships with feeder schools and educational consultants to increase admissions.

Cross-department coordination:

Work with academic coordinators and the principal to ensure proper student placement. Collaborate with marketing teams on recruitment materials.

Follow-up and relationship building:

Follow up with potential leads to maximize enrollment and maintain long-term relationships with prospective and newly enrolled families.

Qualifications and skills:



Educational background:

A Bachelor's or Master's degree in a relevant field such as Counseling, Psychology, or Education is preferred.

Experience:

2 yrs minimum experience in an educational counseling, admissions, or customer-facing role is often required.

Communication:

Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential for effectively interacting with students, parents, and colleagues.

Empathy and patience:

The ability to listen actively and address the concerns of students and parents with a supportive and patient demeanor is crucial.

Target-oriented:

A results-driven approach with a focus on achieving enrollment goals.

Knowledge of the education sector:

An in-depth understanding of the CBSE curriculum, academic structure, and general educational landscape is necessary.

Computer proficiency:

Familiarity with CRM software, school ERP systems, and Microsoft Office is beneficial for managing data and tracking progress.

Organizational skills:

Strong multitasking and organizational abilities are required to manage various stages of the admissions process.
