Key Responsibilities
Course Selection and Scheduling: They assist students in choosing courses based on their academic goals, interests, and requirements for graduation. This includes advising on prerequisites, core courses, and electives.
Academic Planning: Academic counselors help students create long-term academic plans, ensuring they meet graduation requirements and any specific goals they have, such as transferring to a university or pursuing a certain career.
Providing Resources and Support: They connect students with resources like tutoring, study groups, and workshops to help them succeed. If a student is struggling, they might refer them to appropriate support services.
Career and Goal Guidance: Counselors often discuss career aspirations and guide students on how their academic choices can align with future goals. They may also help students explore potential career paths related to their studies.
Monitoring Progress: Academic counselors track students' progress and intervene when necessary, offering advice if students are falling behind or facing difficulties.
Guiding Transitions: They often assist students transitioning from high school to college or from one academic level to another, ensuring students are prepared for changes in their academic environment
