The School Building Supervisor is in charge of keeping the school safe, clean, and in good working condition. This includes managing cleaning staff, handling repairs, and making sure safety rules are followed. The role also includes helping with office work like answering calls, keeping records, scheduling activities, and making sure daily tasks run smoothly.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee daily operations of the school building, including maintenance, cleaning, and security.
- Coordinate and supervise repair work, renovations, and routine inspections.
- Manage custodial staff schedules and performance.
- Ensure building security protocols are followed, including alarm systems and access control.
- Monitor inventory of maintenance supplies and place orders as needed.
- Maintain records of inspections, maintenance logs, and compliance reports.
- Respond promptly to emergencies and safety concerns.
- Ensure compliance with fire safety, health regulations, and building codes.
- Answer phone calls, emails, and greet visitors in a professional manner.
- Assist in scheduling meetings, appointments, and school events.
- Maintain student and staff records, filing systems, and databases.
- Prepare correspondence, reports, and other documents as needed.
- Handle basic bookkeeping tasks, including invoicing and expense tracking.
- Order and manage office supplies and inventory.
- Ensure confidentiality of sensitive information and records.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in building maintenance and administrative roles
- Knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical systems, and general repairs.
- Strong organizational and leadership skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage a team.
- Familiarity with safety regulations and emergency procedures.
- Proven experience in administrative or clerical roles.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and office equipment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional training or certification is a plus.
