Recruiting global subject matter experts as editors to lead individual titles, our reference works are broad and provide comprehensive coverage. They are the perfect one-stop solution for undergraduates, postgraduates and early career researchers looking to expand their knowledge.About the RoleAcquisition Editor will be responsible for Responsible for the editorial strategy, acquisition, and portfolio ownership/management of Major Reference Works in Life Sciences and Earth/Environmental Sciences.ResponsibilitiesAcquire and develop commercially attractive Major Reference Works in Life Sciences and Earth/Environmental SciencesIdentify and develop revisions from successful backlist titles to meet market needsCreating appropriate proposals and financials for internal approvalRecruit and hire Editors-in-Chief for Major Reference Works and collaborate with them to create appropriate editorial boardsNegotiate contracts with Editor in ChiefsPartner with MRW Operations team to ensure timely and in-scope publication of contracted titlesRequirementsExperience in academic publishing, preferably editorial; understanding of academic markets, strategic planning, content acquisitions, author management; working with both print and digital contentProven ability to network and build strong relationships across internal and external partners, with strong communication and negotiation skillsTrack record of meeting goals and actively participating in process improvementsInnovative, thoughtful approach to author management and product developmentBasic to advanced understanding of utilizing market data and customer research to develop and refine publishing and project plans.Goal-driven, process approach to develop and improve on processes, systems, and go-to-market executionComfort working in matrix organization and interest in the challenge of building new programsWork in a way that works for youWe promote a healthy work/life balance across the organization.
