We are seeking an experienced and highly responsible
Accounts Manager (Male)
to join our construction department. The ideal candidate will manage the entire finance and accounting operations, ensure compliance, control project-wise costing, monitor budgets, and support management in making strategic financial decisions. He should have strong knowledge of construction accounting, labour payments, subcontractor billing, statutory compliances, and financial reporting.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
1. Financial Accounting & Books Finalisation
Description:
Manage complete accounting operations including ledger maintenance, trial balance, P&L, and balance sheet.
Tasks:
Maintain accurate books of accounts as per accounting standards.
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
Ensure proper reconciliation of all accounts.
2. Project-wise Costing & Budget Control
Description:
Control and monitor costs for each construction project to avoid overruns.
Tasks:
Track project expenses and compare actual vs budget.
Prepare project cost reports and highlight variances.
Coordinate with project engineers for cost updates.
3. Subcontractor Billing & Verification
Description:
Verify and process subcontractor bills based on work completion.
Tasks:
Check measurements, work orders, and BOQ before approval.
Ensure deductions (TDS, retention, advances) are correct.
Maintain subcontractor ledger accounts.
4. Vendor Management & Payment Processing
Description:
Ensure timely payments with proper validation and documentation.
Tasks:
Verify purchase invoices, GRN, PO, and delivery challans.
Manage payables schedule and negotiate payment terms.
Maintain strong vendor relationships.
5. Cash Flow Management
Description:
Ensure smooth financial operations by monitoring inflow and outflow of funds.
Tasks:
Prepare weekly/monthly cash flow statements.
Predict fund requirements for materials, labour, and subcontractors.
Coordinate with banks for loans, overdrafts, and limits.
6. Banking Operations
Description:
Manage all banking-related work to support business operations.
Tasks:
Handle RTGS/NEFT payments and cheque issuance.
Reconcile bank statements regularly.
Manage LC/OD/CC limits and documentation.
Ensure timely filing and compliance under all tax laws applicable to construction firms.
Tasks:
GST filing, reconciliation and e-invoicing review.
TDS deduction, payment and return filing.
Support auditors during statutory audits.
8. Material Purchase Control & Inventory Accounting
Description:
Ensure accurate accounting and control of construction material usage.
Tasks:
Coordinate with storekeepers for material inward/outward records.
Maintain inventory valuation and stock reconciliation.
Monitor wastage and excess consumption.
9. MIS Reporting & Management Support
Description:
Provide timely financial data to management for decision making.
Tasks:
Prepare monthly MIS reports (P&L, cash flow, project costing).
Present financial performance and recommendations.
Support MD/CEO/CFO with analysis and forecasts.
10. Internal Controls & Process Improvements
Description:
Develop strong internal controls to prevent leakage and improve efficiency.
Tasks:
Implement approval matrix for expenses and purchases.
Establish documentation standards for site-level accounting.
Conduct periodic internal audits.
11. Coordination with External Stakeholders
Description:
Act as the key financial contact for auditors, banks, vendors, and statutory authorities.
Tasks:
Coordinate with external auditors for audit completion.
Handle bank managers for loan enhancement/documentation.
Reply to notices from GST/TDS departments.
12. Team Leadership & Supervision
Description:
Lead and guide the accounts team for timely and accurate work.
Tasks:
Assign tasks and monitor team performance.
Provide training on accounting processes.
Ensure discipline and operational efficiency.
Required Skills & Qualifications
B.Com / M.Com / CA Inter / MBA Finance preferred.
4 - 6 years experience in accounts, preferably in construction or contracting companies.
Strong knowledge of GST, TDS, labour laws, project costing, and reconciliation.
Proficiency in Tally ERP, MS Excel, and project management accounting.
Strong communication, leadership, and analytical skills.
Additional Requirements
Should be willing to travel to project sites if required.
Should be disciplined, responsible, and able to work under pressure.
Should have strong follow-up and documentation skills.
