The Vessel Accounting Accounts Executive will be responsible for managing the day-to-day financial accounting and reporting for vessels operated by the company. The role involves handling operational costs, revenue tracking, budgeting, financial analysis, and ensuring compliance with regulatory and company policies.

Key Responsibilities:



Vessel Accounting & Cost Management:

Oversee the accounting for vessel operations, including tracking of operational costs, revenues, and expenses. Ensure that all expenses related to vessel operations (fuel, maintenance, crew costs, port charges, etc.) are accurately recorded and processed. Reconcile accounts related to vessel operations, ensuring accurate cost allocation. Review and process invoices from suppliers, vendors, and contractors involved in vessel operations.

Financial Reporting:

Prepare and maintain monthly financial statements related to vessel performance. Generate and submit regular reports on vessel operating costs, budget variances, and profitability. Assist in preparing financial statements for internal and external reporting requirements. Ensure compliance with financial reporting standards (IFRS, GAAP, etc.) and industry-specific regulations.

Revenue & Billing:

Monitor revenue streams from vessel operations, including charter agreements, cargo transportation fees, and other sources of income. Ensure timely invoicing for services rendered and follow up on outstanding receivables. Maintain accurate records of contracts, agreements, and billing statements.

Budgeting & Forecasting:

Assist in the preparation of annual budgets for vessels, including cost estimates and expected revenues. Monitor actual performance against budget and provide variance analysis and recommendations. Assist in the development of financial forecasts based on operational data.

Audit & Compliance:

Support external and internal audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations of vessel-related financial data. Ensure compliance with maritime and industry-specific financial regulations. Review and ensure that tax filings, including VAT, are accurately handled for vessels.

Systems & Documentation:

Maintain an organized system for tracking and storing financial records related to vessels. Work with accounting software and ERP systems to ensure seamless financial transactions and data integrity. Maintain accurate documentation of vessel contracts, agreements, and transactions.

Communication & Collaboration:

Collaborate with other departments such as operations, procurement, and management to ensure financial accuracy. Communicate with external partners, including auditors, tax authorities, and vendors, as needed. Liaise with vessel managers and crew members regarding financial matters.

Skills & Qualifications:



Education:

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

Experience:

Minimum of 3 years of experience in accounting, preferably within the maritime, shipping, or logistics industry.

Technical Skills:

Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., SAP, QuickBooks, Oracle). Advanced MS Excel skills for data analysis and reporting. Knowledge of financial regulations and accounting standards (IFRS, GAAP).

Analytical Skills:

Strong attention to detail and ability to analyze financial data to derive insights.

Communication Skills:

Ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels.

Problem-Solving:

Ability to identify financial discrepancies and work to resolve issues efficiently.
