Role Overview
The Accounts Head will be responsible for overseeing the company's complete finance and
accounting ecosystem -- from daily accounting operations to statutory compliance, audits,
investments, and financial planning. The role demands both strategic thinking and operational
precision, with strong command over banking, taxation, systems management, and people
leadership.
The ideal candidate is expected to be proactive, highly detail-oriented, and capable of
maintaining a complete understanding of the organization's financial standing at all times.
Key Responsibilities
1. Accounting Operations & Financial Control
Oversee and ensure accuracy of daily accounting entries, ledgers, reconciliations, and
documentation.
Ensure timely finalization of accounts and preparation of financial statements, P&L,
balance sheets, and cash flow reports.
Maintain strong internal accounting controls and process integrity across all functions.
Oversee Tally software operations, including:
Annual maintenance, renewals, and user access control.
Version updates to ensure the system has the latest features.
Custom report generation and management analysis dashboards.
Regular backup and security of financial data.
Supervise and monitor all banking activities, including daily reconciliations, payments,
receipts, and fund transfers.
Ensure accuracy and timeliness in financial documentation and reporting.
2. Banking, Loans & Financial Exposure Management
Act as the main point of contact for all bank communications and relationships.
Manage and monitor all loan accounts -- including cash credit (CC), term loans,
vehicle loans, and home loans.
Regularly review interest rates and ensure they are revised in line with RBI rate
reductions and current market trends.
Maintain a real-time understanding of the company's total loan exposure, interest
obligations, and repayment schedules.
Ensure no penalties, late fees, or charges are levied; if any occur, address and get
them reversed immediately.
Handle all documentation, legal papers, and collateral submissions required for new
or ongoing bank processes.
Oversee KYC updates and bank compliance submissions in a timely manner.
Coordinate with banks for credit renewals, loan restructuring, and closure
formalities as needed.
3. Compliance, Audit & Statutory Requirements
Ensure accurate and timely compliance with all statutory filings including GST, TDS,
TCS, PF, ESI, and professional tax.
Guide the team to prepare and review returns and reconciliations.
Coordinate with external auditors for periodic and annual audits, ensuring all required
documents are ready and accurate.
Maintain and monitor IT (Income Tax) compliance -- including filing, correspondence,
and maintenance of IT records.
Handle ROC (Registrar of Companies) filings and ensure all corporate documentation
is updated and compliant.
Proactively identify compliance gaps and ensure timely rectification.
4. Financial Planning, Budgeting & Analysis
Lead annual budgeting and financial forecasting in line with business goals.
Analyze actual vs. budgeted performance and recommend cost optimization measures.
Conduct ROI and feasibility analysis for new projects, expansions, and capital
investments.
Maintain cash flow planning, ensuring liquidity and efficient fund utilization.
Provide management reports, MIS summaries, and financial dashboards for
decision-making.
Review insurance policies and investment portfolios to ensure adequate coverage
and maximum returns.
5. Insurance, Investments & Asset Coverage
Oversee and renew all company insurance policies (vehicles, assets, employees, and
fire/business continuity coverage).
Review insurance adequacy annually and manage claims efficiently.
Track and manage all company investments (FDs, mutual funds, or other approved
instruments) for optimized yield and liquidity.
Evaluate new investment opportunities and provide risk-return analyses to
management.
6. IT, Systems & Digital Record Maintenance
Maintain and monitor accounting system access controls and data security.
Ensure regular Tally and financial data backups and version updates.
Maintain proper digital documentation and organized record-keeping of financial,
audit, and compliance documents.
Ensure all IT compliance (software licensing, accounting data protection, and audit
trails) is adhered to.
7. Leadership, Mentorship & Team Development
Supervise a team of 3-5 accounting and finance executives, delegating responsibilities
effectively while maintaining oversight.
Train and mentor team members to work independently and take ownership of their
functions.
Build the next level of leadership within the finance team by encouraging learning,
accountability, and initiative.
Set measurable goals, review performance, and provide constructive feedback.
8. Coordination & Business Partnership
Liaise with banks, auditors, consultants, and internal departments for smooth
coordination of financial processes.
Partner with Operations, HR, and Procurement teams to streamline cost control and
process efficiency.
Provide accurate and timely financial insights to management for informed
decision-making.
Ensure the finance department runs with professionalism, transparency, and
accountability.
Desired Candidate Profile
Qualification: Chartered Accountant (CA), Cost Accountant (CMA), or MBA (Finance) /
M.Com with strong experience in corporate finance.
Experience: 5-10 years of overall experience with at least 3 years in a leadership or
managerial position.
Technical Expertise:
Proficient in Tally ERP, Excel, and financial reporting systems.
Strong knowledge of banking operations, loan documentation, taxation, and
compliance management.
Experience handling ROC filings, IT records, insurance, and investment
portfolios.
