Role Overview
We are seeking a motivated and dynamic Accounting & Finance Associate who thrives in a high-energy, purpose-driven environment. This is not a back-office role it a central position that involves collaboration across Beforests teams and sister entities to build a world-class finance function from the ground up.
Youll work directly with the CFO to strengthen our accounting systems, streamline reporting, drive financial insights, and support forward-looking decision-making at both the company and project level.
Key Responsibilities
Finance Systems & Bookkeeping:
- Integrate and maintain financial records in Zoho Books across multiple projects and entities
- Ensure timely recording of invoices, payments, and receivables
- Reconcile accounts and maintain clean, audit-ready books
- Coordinate inter-entity transactions and documentation
Reporting & Dashboards:
- Create and maintain live financial dashboards for leadership using Zoho and other tools
- Prepare monthly and quarterly MIS reports, cash flow summaries, and receivables reports
- Support statutory filings, compliance, and audit preparation
Planning & Strategy:
- Collaborate with the CFO on project-level and consolidated financial models & forecasts
- Track budgets vs actuals and highlight key variances or red flags
- Assist in structuring data to support investor and lender reporting
Cross-Functional Coordination:
- Liaise with operational teams, field managers, and sister entities for real-time financial inputs
- Ensure seamless coordination between on-ground realities and financial tracking
Culture & Team Building:
- Help build a high-performance finance function with strong ownership and continuous learning
- Identify and drive process improvements proactively
- Contribute to Beforests mission of ecological restoration through finance that supports systems thinking
Who You Are
- 5 to 7 years of experience in accounting, finance, or audit roles
- Proficient in Zoho Books or similar cloud-based accounting systems
- Strong command over Excel/Google Sheets; exposure to dash-boarding tools are a plus
- Comfortable working with multiple entities and handling complexity
- A self-starter who thrives in ambiguity and takes initiative
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Aligned with Beforests mission of long-term ecological and social regeneration
Bonus (Nice-to-Have)
- Experience in startups, social enterprises, or mission-driven organizations
- Background in impact reporting, ESG finance, or sustainable development
- Exposure to fundraising support or investor relations
