The Accounting Assistant provides essential support to the finance team by maintaining accurate financial records, processing transactions, handling reconciliations, and contributing to audit and reporting processes. Precision and confidentiality are key in this role.
Key Responsibilities
Enter financial transactions (expenses, invoices, payments, receipts) into accounting software.
Prepare, issue, and file invoices; process reimbursements and expense reports.
Reconcile vendor statements, bank accounts, and general ledger entries; investigate discrepancies.
Assist in accounts payable (A/P) and accounts receivable (A/R) processes.
Support month-end and year-end closing by preparing journal entries, schedules, and balance confirmations.
Maintain physical and digital filing systems for financial documents.
Assist during internal/external audits and compliance reviews.
Help prepare basic financial reports and budgets; provide spreadsheets and data analysis.
Respond to vendor and client inquiries regarding payments and accounts.
Qualifications & Skills
Education:
Bachelor's preferred in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
Experience:
1-3 years in accounting, bookkeeping, or finance support roles.
Technical proficiency:
Familiarity with accounting software (e.g., SAP B1, ZohoBooks, Tally and Excel.)
Knowledge of basic accounting principles, A/P, A/R, general ledger.
Core skills:
Strong numerical ability with attention to detail and accuracy.
Excellent organization, time management, and multitasking.
Clear written and verbal communication for internal and external interactions.
Discretion and ability to handle confidential financial data.
Basic problem-solving skills to resolve discrepancies and support audits.
