Job Title: Accounts Head
Position Summary:
The Accounts Head is responsible for managing the day-to-day accounting activities of the organization, including financial reporting, general ledger management, budgeting, tax compliance, and audit preparation. This role ensures that the company's financial records are accurate, up-to-date, and compliant with relevant regulations and standards.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Financial Reporting:
- Oversee the preparation and presentation of accurate and timely financial statements.
- Ensure compliance with accounting principles, company policies, and legal requirements.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for management and stakeholders.
2. General Ledger Management:
- Manage and oversee daily accounting activities, including journal entries, reconciliations, and ledger maintenance.
- Ensure the integrity and accuracy of the general ledger.
- Review and approve all ledger entries and adjustments.
3. Budgeting and Forecasting:
- Collaborate with the finance team to develop annual budgets and forecasts.
- Monitor and report on budget variances, providing analysis and recommendations.
- Assist in long-term financial planning and strategy.
4. Tax Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal tax regulations.
- Prepare and file tax returns, ensuring accurate and timely submission.
- Manage tax planning strategies to optimize tax liabilities.
5. Audit Preparation:
- Coordinate and prepare for internal and external audits.
- Ensure all financial records and documentation are readily available and accurate.
- Address audit findings and implement corrective actions where necessary.
6. Accounts Payable and Receivable Management:
- Oversee the accounts payable and receivable processes, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
- Manage vendor relationships and ensure timely payments.
- Monitor and manage cash flow, including receivables collection.
7. Internal Controls and Process Improvement:
- Develop, implement, and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets.
- Identify areas for process improvement and implement best practices in accounting operations.
- Ensure compliance with internal policies and procedures.
8. Team Leadership and Development:
- Lead and mentor the accounting team, providing guidance and support for professional development.
- Conduct performance reviews and identify training needs.
- Foster a collaborative and high-performance team environment.
9. Systems Management:
- Oversee the implementation and maintenance of accounting software and systems.
- Ensure data integrity and security within accounting systems.
- Work with IT to troubleshoot and resolve system issues.
10. Stakeholder Communication:
- Serve as the point of contact for financial and accounting inquiries from internal and external stakeholders.
- Provide financial insights and recommendations to support decision-making.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field; CPA or equivalent certification preferred.
- Minimum 3 years in accounting in a supervisory role.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial regulations, and tax laws.
- Proven experience in financial reporting, budgeting, and audit preparation.
- High proficiency in accounting software and MS Office, particularly Excel.
