ole Summary



The Accountant will oversee and manage all financial transactions and records of the engineering college. This includes day-to-day bookkeeping, preparing budgets and financial reports, ensuring regulatory compliance (fees, grants, audits), liaising with departments and external agencies, and maintaining strong internal controls. The role supports the institution's strategic goal of delivering quality education through transparent and sound financial management.

Key Responsibilities



Maintain accurate day-to-day accounting records including cash book, bank book, journals, ledgers, voucher postings, receipt & payment registers. Perform bank reconciliations, monitor cash flows, ensure deposits and cheques are handled properly. Prepare budget estimates (annual / departmental) in consultation with Management. and monitor actual expenditure versus budget. Scrutinise bills, vendor invoices, staff claims, reimbursements and approve payments only after appropriate authorisation and budget provisions. Process tuition/semester/hostel fees, track receivables and outstanding dues. Ensure accounting for grants, donations, research funds or project funds (if applicable) with proper fund segregation and reporting. Liaise with internal and external auditors; prepare schedules, file required returns TDS, GST, Professional Tax, PF liaising if applicable. Stay updated on accounting software tools (e.g., Tally, ERP modules) and financial regulations in higher-education sector.

Qualifications & Experience



Bachelor's degree in Commerce / Accounting / Finance. Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in educational institution or college/Company. Strong working knowledge of accounting software (Tally, or institutional ERP) and Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, financial modelling). Deep understanding of Indian tax regulations (TDS, GST), fund accounting, budgeting, auditing practices. Excellent numerical, analytical, organisational and communication skills. Ability to interact and collaborate with academic & administrative stakeholders.

Proactive attitude: spotting variances, recommending corrective actions. Strong interpersonal skills: liaising with departments, auditors, vendors, regulatory bodies. Comfortable working in a dynamic educational institution setting, often requiring flexibility (e.g., year-end closing, audits).
