Role Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented

Staff Accountant

to manage the financial health of our growing mobile phone resale business. Unlike traditional accounting roles, this position sits at the intersection of retail finance and inventory management. You will be responsible for tracking high-volume transactions, managing device-level inventory costs, and ensuring our margins are accurately reflected across multiple sales platforms.

Key Responsibilities

Inventory & Cost Accounting:

Reconcile daily inventory acquisitions (trade-ins, wholesale buys) with sales. Track the "landed cost" of devices, including repair costs and parts.

Sales Reconciliation:

Reconcile daily payouts from various channels (e.g., Shopify, eBay, Swappa, Amazon, and physical storefronts) against bank deposits.

Accounts Payable/Receivable:

Manage vendor payments for bulk handset orders and track receivables from corporate trade-in partners.

Tax Compliance:

Prepare and file monthly sales tax returns across multiple jurisdictions (Nexus) and assist with year-end tax preparation.

Financial Reporting:

Produce monthly P&L statements, specifically highlighting

Gross Margin per Device

and turnover rates.

Audit & Loss Prevention:

Conduct periodic physical inventory counts and investigate discrepancies between system stock and physical stock.
Required Skills & Qualifications

Education:

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

Experience:

2+ years of accounting experience, preferably in

Retail, E-commerce, or Consumer Electronics

.

Software Proficiency:

Advanced Excel skills
Prepration of financial statement including balance sheet,profitor loss and cashflow statement
Preferred Attributes

A passion for the mobile tech industry. Experience with "Buy-Back" or "Circular Economy" business models. Strong analytical skills to help identify which phone models are providing the best ROI.
