Rules & Responsibilities of Accountant for construction company
1. Financial Management
Preparing and maintaining financial statements (balance sheets, income statements, cash flow statements).
Managing accounts payable and receivable.
Ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing.
Budgeting and forecasting for projects and overall company finances.
2. Cost Control & Project Accounting
Tracking job costs and ensuring proper cost allocation for each project.
Preparing job cost reports to compare actual vs. estimated costs.
Monitoring material, labor, and overhead costs.
Assisting in project bidding and contract pricing analysis.
3. Taxation & Compliance
Handling tax filings (GST, VAT, income tax, etc.).
Ensuring compliance with construction industry regulations and financial reporting standards.
Managing audits and liaising with external auditors.
4. Cash Flow & Risk Management
Monitoring cash flow to ensure project funding and smooth operations.
Managing financial risks, including cost overruns and delays.
Advising on financial strategies to optimize profitability.
5. Financial Reporting & Analysis
Providing management with financial insights and reports.
Preparing financial statements for lenders and investors.
Identifying cost-saving opportunities and efficiency improvements.
6. Software & Record-Keeping
Using accounting software like QuickBooks, Sage, or industry-specific ERP solutions.
Maintaining accurate financial records and documentation.
Coordinating with project managers for financial tracking.
