Job Description

An accountant in a Jewellery shop manages financial records, including accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and inventory valuation, while ensuring compliance with taxes like GST and TDS. Key duties include preparing financial statements, reconciling accounts, performing stock audits, and providing financial analysis to support business decisions, especially concerning raw material price volatility. Proficiency in accounting software such as Tally, ERP systems, and advanced Excel is typically required. Core responsibilities

Financial record-keeping:

Maintain accurate ledgers, handle accounts payable and receivable, and perform bank and vendor reconciliations.

Financial reporting:

Prepare and present financial statements, including profit and loss accounts, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.

Inventory management:

Assist with stock audits, help with the valuation of jewelry inventory, and track purchases and sales.

Taxation and compliance:

Ensure timely filing of statutory returns (GST, TDS) and maintain compliance with all relevant regulations.

Payroll:

Manage payroll for all staff, including artisans and sales personnel.

Billing:

Ensure accurate and detailed billing for customer sales, including breakdowns of weight, purity, and labor charges.

Auditing:

Assist with internal and external audits.

Financial analysis:

Provide insights and recommendations to management based on financial data, and assist with budgeting and forecasting, especially considering the volatility of raw material prices like gold and silver.
