How You Will Contribute:
This job description outlines the responsibilities and expectations for a role focused on GL Accounting, Accounts Receivable, Billing, & Collections within a professional environment. The role requires strong accounting expertise, analytical skills, and the ability to collaborate across teams to ensure financial accuracy and compliance. Below is a summary of the essential duties and responsibilities:
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

• Perform daily invoicing based on customer purchase orders, shipping reports, receivable reports, and contracts.

• Review customer contracts and purchase orders to ensure billing structures, payment terms, and invoice delivery meet requirements.

• Ensure invoices comply with local government regulations by coordinating with customers, sales teams, and/or local accounting firms.

• Analyze weekly billing reconciliations and contract billing terms.

• Collaborate with the Cash Application Team to share remittance advice post-reconciliation.

• Prepare weekly and monthly AR balance sheet account reconciliations.

• Maintain highly accurate and complete AR records.

• Monitor and manage the accounts receivable aging report, identifying delinquent accounts and taking appropriate action to collect outstanding payments.

• Investigate and resolve billing discrepancies or disputes, collaborating with sales and customer service teams.

• Summarize receivables by maintaining invoice accounts, verifying totals, and preparing reports.

• Maintain and distribute high-level reporting metrics to CIENA management.

• Provide regular updates and reports to management on outstanding invoices, collection efforts, and key performance metrics.

• Collaborate across internal and external teams to resolve reconciliation and billing issues.

• Perform weekly close and month-end activities.

• Prepare and manage roll-forward schedules, DSO (Days Sales Outstanding) working, and bad debt allowance activities.

• Generate and distribute cash forecasts and dashboards, including anticipated collection amounts.

• Produce accounting schedules for month-end and other reporting needs.

• Review foreign currency transactions, translations, and exchange rates to ensure financial accuracy.

• Resolve escalated issues in the AR department with priority.

• Perform other relevant duties, tasks, and projects as assigned by management.

• Stay updated with industry best practices and regulations related to accounts receivable and collections.

• Act as a liaison for internal and external audit requests.

• Ensure compliance with SOX regulations and assist internal auditors.

• Protect the organization's value by maintaining confidentiality of sensitive information.

The Must Haves:

• CA, CFA, CPA, MBA, M.COM. from a reputed college.
• Minimum 7 to 10 years of relevant industry experience
• Previous experience in GL Reporting & GL Close of Global Regions & Issue resolution.
• Well versed with Microsoft Excel skills, Power BI & Looker.
• Accounting knowledge and experience in Oracle R12 & Fusion
