The School Accountant is responsible for managing the school's financial records, budgeting, fee collection, payroll, and ensuring compliance with statutory and audit requirements. The role supports smooth financial operations of the institution.
Key Responsibilities:
Maintain accurate books of accounts, ledgers, and financial records
Handle student fee collection, receipts, refunds, and fee reconciliation
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
Manage salary processing, payroll, and staff reimbursements
Maintain records of expenses, purchases, and vendor payments
Handle bank-related work such as reconciliation, deposits, and statements
Ensure compliance with statutory requirements (GST, TDS, PF, ESI, etc., if applicable)
Coordinate with auditors and support internal and external audits
Maintain inventory and asset registers
Prepare budgets and monitor expenditure against budget
Maintain proper documentation for all financial transactions
Support school management with financial reports and analysis
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Commerce (B.Com) or related field
Knowledge of accounting principles and financial regulations
Experience in handling school or institutional accounts preferred
Skills & Competencies:
Proficiency in MS Excel and accounting software
Strong numerical and analytical skills
Attention to detail and accuracy
Good organizational and time management skills
Ability to maintain confidentiality
Good communication and coordination skills
Experience:
2-5 years of relevant experience (school experience preferred)
