Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Academic Counselor with 3 to 5 years of professional experience in academic advising or student support services. The ideal candidate will be responsible for guiding students in their academic journey, helping them make informed decisions about course selections, career planning, and achieving educational goals.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide personalized academic counseling to students on course planning, program requirements, and academic policies. Assess students' academic progress and help them develop realistic and achievable educational goals. Identify students' strengths and challenges, and provide appropriate support or referrals to tutoring, career services, or personal counseling. Collaborate with faculty and other departments to monitor at-risk students and develop intervention strategies. Guide students through registration, program changes, transfers, and graduation requirements. Maintain accurate records of student interactions and follow-ups in compliance with institutional policies. Stay updated with curriculum changes, program offerings, and industry trends to provide accurate academic and career advice. Conduct workshops or information sessions on academic planning, time management, and study skills. Assist in orientation programs and other student support initiatives.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Education, Psychology, Counseling, or a related field (Master's preferred). 3-5 years of experience in academic counseling, advising, or a similar role in an educational institution. Excellent interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills. Familiarity with academic management systems and student databases (e.g., SIS, CRM). Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team. Empathetic, student-centered approach with cultural sensitivity.

Preferred Qualifications:

Graduate in any field/ Masters preferred Prior experience in academic or career counseling. Experience working with diverse student populations.
