Job Description

The Academic Counselor is responsible for providing comprehensive academic guidance and support to students to help them achieve their educational, personal, and professional goals. The role involves assisting students in academic planning, monitoring progress, addressing academic challenges, and guiding students toward timely graduation and career readiness.

Key Responsibilities:

Advise students on academic programs, course selection, degree requirements, and educational goals. Develop individualized academic plans and monitor student progress throughout their academic journey. Identify students experiencing academic difficulty and provide timely interventions or referrals. Guide students in setting educational and career objectives aligned with their skills and interests. Provide information and assistance regarding institutional policies, procedures, and resources. Coordinate and participate in student orientation programs, advising workshops, and outreach events. Refer students to appropriate campus services such as tutoring, mental health counseling, financial aid, and career services. Maintain accurate records of student interactions and advising notes in accordance with institutional policies. Collaborate with faculty and administration to support student success initiatives and retention efforts. Stay current on curriculum changes, educational trends, and student support best practices. Bachelor's degree in Education, Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in academic advising, student support, or counseling Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills Proficiency with student information systems and academic planning tools
