Job Description

The Academic Counselor is responsible for guiding and supporting students in their academic journey. This role involves providing academic advising, career guidance, and personal development support while helping students overcome academic challenges and achieve their educational goals.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide academic advising to students on course selection, degree planning, and graduation requirements. Assist students in developing study skills, time management, and academic improvement strategies. Counsel students facing academic difficulties and provide personalized success plans. Guide students in exploring career paths, internships, and higher education opportunities. Conduct orientation sessions, workshops, and awareness programs for student success. Collaborate with faculty and administration to support student development and retention. Maintain accurate records of student interactions, progress, and counseling sessions. Refer students to appropriate support services (tutoring, career services, mental health resources) when needed. Stay updated on academic policies, curriculum changes, and educational opportunities. Ensure confidentiality and ethical practices in all student interactions.

Qualifications & Skills:

Bachelor's degree in Education, Counseling, Psychology, or related field (Master's preferred). 2-4 years of experience in academic advising or student support services. Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.
