The Academic Counsellor is responsible for guiding students in selecting suitable courses, assisting with admissions, and providing continuous academic support throughout their learning journey. The role involves counselling prospective students, explaining course structures, managing admissions, and ensuring student satisfaction and retention.
Key Responsibilities:
Counsel students (walk-ins, calls, or online inquiries) regarding courses, career paths, and admission procedures.
Understand the student's background, interests, and career goals to suggest the most appropriate program.
Handle student admissions, documentation, and registration processes.
Maintain records of student enquiries, follow-ups, and conversions.
Coordinate with the academic and placement departments to ensure smooth student support.
Participate in promotional activities such as seminars, webinars, and campus events.
Achieve monthly targets for admissions and conversions.
Ensure timely communication and follow-up with leads from marketing and referrals.
Address student queries and provide after-admission assistance.
Required Skills:
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Strong convincing and presentation abilities.
Knowledge of academic programs, training modules, or IT/technical courses (preferred).
Basic computer and CRM handling skills.
Ability to multitask and manage time effectively.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in any discipline (education or management background preferred).
Prior experience (0-3 years) in academic counselling, admissions, or education sales is an added advantage.
