The Overseas Education Counsellor plays a vital role in the success of the study abroad business. This position carries the responsibility of providing accurate, reliable, and up-to-date information about professional courses abroad, top study destinations, admission opportunities in high-ranking universities and colleges, upcoming intakes, visa and documentation processes, and much more. The counsellor's timely guidance, personalized counselling assistance, and clear communication with clients are essential in helping students achieve their academic and career aspirations.
Key Areas of Responsibility
1. Student Counselling
Provide personalized counselling to students based on their academic background, career goals, financial budget, and preferred destinations.
Advise students on suitable study destinations, universities, and programs that best align with their interests and qualifications.
Respond to student inquiries with in-depth knowledge and practical suggestions tailored to their needs.
Build rapport and engage with students in a professional, approachable, and respectful manner, ensuring a positive counselling experience.
2. Targets & Registrations
Consistently achieve or exceed daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly registration targets through effective counselling techniques and strategies.
Encourage clients to participate in webinars, expos, events, and virtual study abroad sessions to enhance the chances of enrolment.
Maintain thorough knowledge of all major study abroad destinations, programs, eligibility criteria, cultural aspects, rules, and regulations of different countries to support accurate counselling and faster conversions.
3. Calls & Follow-ups
Maintain productivity by achieving a minimum of 50 connected calls on a daily basis.
Conduct timely follow-ups for all enquiries and registered clients to strengthen relationships and improve conversion rates.
Ensure consistent communication with students to address concerns, resolve queries, and provide continuous guidance.
4. Lead Generation
Actively contribute innovative ideas, creativity, and expertise to attract and generate high-quality leads.
Participate in activities such as content development for course promotions, creating scripts for videos and reels, conducting webinars, and planning/coordinating in-house expos and events.
Initiate collaborations with schools, colleges, and educational institutions for presentations, workshops, and awareness programs.
5. Record Keeping & Reporting
Prepare and submit daily, weekly, and monthly reports, ensuring updates are completed every evening before 5 PM.
Maintain accurate records of lead sheets, registration status, client documents, and ensure timely sharing with relevant stakeholders within the defined turnaround time (TAT).
Keep an organized database of course details, fee structures, client information, website references (bookmarks), and other resources for quick and effective access.
6. Research & Knowledge Development
Stay updated on the latest industry trends, new intake openings/closures, visa policies, scholarships, and services offered by universities and countries.
Conduct continuous learning about the study abroad industry, competitors, and evolving business strategies to strengthen counselling efficiency.
Share insights and best practices with the team to enhance overall performance.
7. Participation & Support
Actively participate in all major events hosted or initiated by the branch, including webinars, seminars, in-house expos, delegate meetings, training sessions, and team discussions.
Provide support to the branch and colleagues during peak seasons and events.
8. Team / Branch Meetings
Attend daily, weekly, and monthly meetings to review performance, discuss strategies, and align with organizational goals.
Be prepared for morning and evening briefing sessions with the Branch Manager (BM) to provide updates on tasks, plans, and progress.
9. Walk-ins & Virtual Counselling
Generate 10-20 successful walk-ins every month by engaging with prospective students directly.
Provide virtual counselling for clients who are unable to visit the office in person, ensuring equal attention and service quality.
10. Branch Visits & Lead Management
Visit allocated branches (academies) to collect leads and directly interact with students.
Regularly follow up on leads and maintain strong professional relationships with branch staff, CROs, and students to ensure continuous engagement and conversion.
Qualifications / Requirements
A bachelor's degree in education, international relations, business, or a related field.
Experience in counseling or student services, especially in the context of international education.
(Min 1- 2 years) preferred
