Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

Inspect, maintain, and repair all types of air conditioning and HVAC systems (including split units, AHUs, FCUs, chillers, VRV/VRF systems). Ensure proper functioning of ventilation and exhaust systems in critical hospital zones such as ICUs, OTs, and isolation rooms. Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults in AC systems and perform corrective actions. Perform preventive maintenance as per hospital maintenance schedules and manufacturer guidelines. Monitor and maintain chillers, cooling towers, and central HVAC plants if applicable. Maintain records of maintenance, repairs, refrigerant usage, and compliance documentation. Respond promptly to work orders and emergency maintenance calls. Coordinate with biomedical engineers and facility staff to ensure climate-sensitive medical equipment is operating within recommended conditions. Follow all safety protocols, infection control procedures, and hospital regulations during maintenance tasks. Assist in HVAC system upgrades or new installations in coordination with contractors and project teams.

Qualifications and Skills:

Diploma or ITI certification in Refrigeration and Air Conditioning or a related field. Minimum 3-5 years of experience in HVAC maintenance, preferably in a hospital or healthcare environment. Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, controls, electrical components, and refrigerants. Familiarity with hospital-specific requirements such as HEPA filtration, pressurization, and air change rates. Ability to read and interpret HVAC schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals. Physical ability to work in confined spaces, at heights, and in varying temperature conditions. Good troubleshooting skills and ability to work independently or as part of a team. Basic knowledge of BMS (Building Management System) is an advantage.

Working Conditions:

Rotational shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays. Exposure to loud equipment, dust, chemicals, and varying temperatures. Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
