Role Overview

We're hiring an experienced

Abacus Maths Teacher

to deliver engaging, results-driven online lessons for children aged

7 years and above

. This is a

part-time

remote role with flexible scheduling. The tutor will teach abacus fundamentals, mental arithmetic, concentration & speed techniques, and monitor progress with short assessments.

Pay:

?400 per hour (one-on-one online)

Key Responsibilities

Teach core abacus techniques and mental arithmetic to children aged 7+. Plan structured lessons that develop speed, accuracy, and concentration. Use interactive methods: physical abacus demonstration (via camera) or digital abacus tools. Assign short practice tasks and track improvement with periodic progress notes. Provide clear feedback to students and brief updates to parents/academy. Maintain punctuality, professionalism, and a supportive learning atmosphere.

Requirements

? Proven experience teaching

Abacus / Mental Arithmetic

to children (preferred age range 7+).
? Strong understanding of abacus methods (e.g., Soroban / Japanese / Vedic methods) and mental calculation techniques.
? Comfortable teaching online using a webcam, digital whiteboard, and/or digital abacus apps.
? Excellent communication skills and a patient, child-friendly teaching style.
? Reliable internet connection and a quiet teaching environment.
? Teaching certification or prior tutoring experience is preferred but not mandatory.
? DBS/background check (or local equivalent) is a plus where applicable.
