Position Summary
The
ABA Therapist
(Instructor Therapist) works directly with children and families implementing individualized Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) programs under the supervision of a BCBA or Clinical Supervisor. This role involves direct 1:1 teaching, data collection, behavior management, and contributing to treatment planning.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver
1:1 ABA therapy sessions
in-home, daycare, school, or community settings.
Implement individualized
behavior intervention plans (BIPs)
and skill acquisition programs.
Collect accurate and detailed
session data
on skill progress and behavior reduction.
Collaborate with
Clinical Supervisors/BCBAs
to review data and modify teaching strategies.
Use evidence-based teaching methods (e.g., DTT, NET, PRT, task analysis, shaping, chaining).
Maintain consistent communication with supervisors and caregivers.
Support
generalization of skills
across settings and people.
Attend regular
team meetings
, supervision sessions, and training.
Ensure a
safe, positive, and structured learning environment
during sessions.
Maintain client confidentiality and comply with
HIPAA/PHIPA standards
.
Participate in ongoing professional development and performance reviews.
Qualifications & Requirements
Diploma or Degree
in Psychology, Behavioural Science, Early Childhood Education, or a related field.
Completion of an ABA program or coursework
from a recognized institution (e.g., George Brown, Seneca, Mohawk, etc.) preferred.
Minimum
1 - 3year
experience working with children with Autism Spectrum Disorder or developmental disabilities.
Knowledge of
ABA principles
, reinforcement strategies, and data collection methods.
Valid
CPR/First Aid certification
(required prior to client assignment).
Valid
Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC)
or police clearance (mandatory).
Access to
reliable transportation
to travel to client sessions.
Excellent
communication, patience, and interpersonal skills
.
Ability to follow structured programs and implement feedback from supervisors.
Comfort working independently and collaboratively in diverse environments.
