to manage and execute all Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM) printing operations. The ideal candidate must have hands-on experience in handling various FDM printers, optimizing print parameters, performing routine maintenance, and delivering high-quality prototypes for engineering and R&D needs.
Key Responsibilities:
FDM Printing Operations
Operate, monitor, and maintain FDM 3D printers on a daily basis
Prepare 3D models for printing using slicing tools like Ultimaker Cura.
Set print parameters (nozzle temp, bed temp, speed, infill, supports) based on material and application.
Conduct test prints and calibrations to ensure optimal performance.
Model Preparation & File Handling
Review CAD/STL files for printability, errors, and structural considerations.
Repair meshes and perform minor CAD modifications when needed.
Optimize models for strength, material efficiency, and dimensional accuracy.
Post-Processing & Part Finishing
Remove supports, clean, sand, bond, and finish printed components.
Conduct assembly of multi-part prints or functional prototypes.
Apply surface treatments such as priming or basic painting if required.
Printer Maintenance & Troubleshooting
Perform routine maintenance: nozzle changes, bed leveling, lubrication, cleaning, calibration.
Troubleshoot print issues such as warping, layer shifting, clogging, and under-extrusion.
Maintain machine logs, maintenance records, and print quality reports.
Material Handling & Inventory
Manage inventory of filaments (PLA, ABS, PETG, TPU, Nylon, Carbon Fiber, etc.).
Store materials properly to prevent moisture-related degradation.
Track material usage and update inventory records regularly.
Quality Control & Documentation
Inspect printed parts for dimensional accuracy and surface finish.
Document print parameters, batch details, and results for traceability.
Maintain organized print files, G-code, and project archives.
Collaboration & Support
Work closely with engineers, designers, and R&D teams to deliver fast and reliable prototypes.
Provide suggestions for design improvements to enhance print quality.
Support rapid prototyping activities and small-run production.
Required Skills & Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design, or related field.
Proven hands-on experience with FDM 3D printers.
Proficiency in slicing tools (Cura, PrusaSlicer, etc.).
Understanding of FDM materials and print behavior.
Ability to troubleshoot printing issues effectively.
Strong attention to detail and good hand-eye coordination.
Basic CAD knowledge is an advantage.
Good documentation and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with advanced filaments (Nylon CF, ABS+, ASA, PC).
Familiarity with DfAM (Design for Additive Manufacturing).
Experience in robotics, R&D prototyping, or mechanical assemblies.
Knowledge of basic electronics or mechanical tools.
