2D Character Designer (Manga Specialist)

Job Summary:

We are seeking a creative and detail-oriented

2D Character Designer

with a strong background in manga-style illustration. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing unique, expressive, and dynamic characters that align with our project's artistic vision. You should have strong drawing skills, deep knowledge of manga aesthetics, and the ability to adapt your style to different moods, genres, and storytelling needs.

Key Responsibilities:

Create original

manga-style characters

from concept to final design, including expressions, poses, and outfits. Develop

character sheets

showing multiple angles, facial expressions, and action poses. Collaborate with writers, art directors, and animators to ensure designs match the story's tone and personality. Research and incorporate cultural, historical, and thematic elements to enhance character authenticity. Adapt designs for various mediums, including comics, animation, and digital games. Maintain consistency in art style across all characters and assets. Provide

clean, high-quality line art

and, when needed, color renderings.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

Proven experience as a

2D character artist

, preferably with published manga, webtoons, or anime-inspired projects.

Strong knowledge of manga anatomy

, proportion, facial expressions, and gesture drawing. Proficiency in digital illustration tools (e.g.,

Clip Studio Paint, Photoshop, Procreate

). Ability to design characters that convey personality, emotion, and story through appearance. Strong understanding of

Japanese art styles, visual storytelling, and cultural aesthetics

. Excellent communication and teamwork skills. Ability to work under deadlines while maintaining quality.
