Job Summary

The Junior Rebar Estimator will analyze 2D structural blueprints and architectural plans to prepare detailed

Quantity Take-offs (QTO)

. This data is used by the sales team for bidding and by the procurement team for ordering materials. You will work under the guidance of a Senior Estimator to ensure that every bar, lap, and bend is accounted for according to industry standards.

Key Responsibilities

Drawing Interpretation:

Review and interpret 2D structural drawings, sections, and details to understand the reinforcement requirements.

Quantity Take-off (QTO):

Perform precise measurements and counts of rebar (tonnage) for various structural elements like foundations, columns, beams, and slabs.

BBS Preparation:

Assist in creating

Bar Bending Schedules (BBS)

, listing bar marks, diameters, shapes, and lengths.

Software Usage:

Utilize industry-standard tools (like Bluebeam, PlanSwift, aSa, or AutoCAD) to perform digital take-offs.

Code Compliance:

Ensure estimates follow relevant codes (e.g.,

ACI

for US,

BS

for UK, or

IS

for India) regarding lap lengths and development lengths.

Documentation:

Maintain organized records of estimation sheets, RFIs (Request for Information), and project addendums.

Required Skills & Qualifications

Education:

B.E. / B.Tech or Diploma in

Civil Engineering

.

Technical Knowledge:

Basic understanding of RCC (Reinforced Cement Concrete) structures.
Ability to read and "visualize" 2D engineering drawings. Familiarity with different grades of steel and rebar diameters.

Software:

Proficiency in

Microsoft Excel

is mandatory. Basic knowledge of

AutoCAD

or

Bluebeam Revu

is highly preferred.
