Role Descriptor DHL Express is looking for a Retail Sales Manager to join and lead our retail sales team. He/she will have to drive cash sales growth through the effective setup, running and management of all retail outlets within a designated area. Role Details Role title : Retail Sales Manager Corporate/Business : DHL Express Department/Function : Commercial-(National Sales) Job family : Direct Sales Channel Reports to : Retail Manager Scope of role Number of countries covered [year]: 1 sub-area of a country assigned. No. Of FTEs [year]: Liaise closely with country marketing staff. Direct/Indirect reports [year]: Retail Store Managers. Other relevant dimension: Manages/ evaluates partnerships and tie-ups. Key Responsibilities He/she will have to perform the following key activities: Implement standardized guidelines & procedures that will track and monitor adherence and performance. Training frontline staff in Best-in-Class Retail. Provide direction and coaching to retail staff, supporting the achievement of revenue targets. Support country sales & marketing campaigns at Retail point-of-sale. Ensure effective implementation and running of outlet Catchment Area Marketing Programs to achieve maximum target segment penetration and revenue performance. Maintain awareness of competitor activity and recommend tactics to counter any emerging threats by competitors on both an Area and Local level. Be able to identify different customer needs and wants and to provide solutions that will ensure customer satisfaction. Maintain quality customer service for customer satisfaction through optimised processes, giving feedback to country retail team, and conducting retail audit reviews within their specified area. To source the most cost efficient local contractors and suppliers for the proper maintenance of store operations and maintain quality of retail experience. Management of outsourced suppliers and outsourced staff to ensure effective running and staffing of Retail outlets. Liaise with, co-ordinate, consult with and work in partnership to achieve overall DHL business objectives with- National Sales Manager, Direct Sales Channel Manager Retail Manager, National Marketing Manager, Product Manager, Marketing Communications Manager, Liaise closely with Operations to ensure pick-up times are met, and all supplies are delivered on time. Liaise with customer service to resolve any customer issues that may arise. Prepare cash reconciliations and ensure proper petty cash maintenance. Work closely with Sales Training Manager for the training of all frontline staff. Conduct cash reconciliation reports and cash/credit card transactions of retail outlets in his designated area & maintains the Petty Cash Fund of his designated area. Maintain Express Center Cash shipment data. Coordinate and consolidate data transfer between Express Centers country office. Monitor area performance by implementing a store scorecard sheet. Review and analyse the most effective uses of shipment automation and customer take up at Point-of-Sale (POS) Implement store hours that is most reflective of the needs of customers and ensure that this is consistently implemented in his given area. Handle the rostering of store officers and ensure that all frontline staff in his given area has low absenteeism, low in tardiness, is properly groomed at all times. Ensure that outlets in his given area all have proper supplies and marketing collaterals. Monitor staff performance regularly and conduct training or mentoring to staff as he deem fit. Enable improvement and change within the assigned area. Identify training needs and opportunities to develop a highly skilled team and Coach and develop them with capabilities of subordinate(s). Skills Required Highly developed experience in the field of retail sales with demonstrated understanding of and exposure to all elements of the retail trade and outlet management Team-player and proven leadership and influencing skills High levels of patience Perseverance to bring issues to logical conclusion Sales orientation Strong English (written and spoken) comprehension and communication skills are essential. Profile Requirements (Experience/Certifications/Qualifications/Licenses) A minimum of 4 years of experience in the field of retail sales and area marketing. Experience in sales/sales processes. Knowledge and understanding of the retail trade from a service and sales perspective. Experience in leading a frontline team is preferred. Tertiary level in related fields (eg. Degree in Business / Marketing) (Experience/Certifications/Qualifications/Licenses) A minimum of 4 years of experience in the field of retail sales and area marketing. Experience in sales/sales processes. Knowledge and understanding of the retail trade from a service and sales perspective. Experience in leading a frontline team is preferred. Tertiary level in related fields (eg. Degree in Business / Marketing)
