Job Description

Lead and guide a team of fettlers, grinders, and helpers. Allocate daily tasks and monitor work progress. Train new operators on fettling tools and safety. Oversee removal of burrs, risers, gates, and casting defects. Ensure grinding, cutting, and surface finishing meets required tolerances. Coordinate with machining or welding departments for smooth workflow. Inspect fettled parts for dimensional accuracy, finish, and defects. Maintain quality standards as per customer or internal specifications. Ensure all fettling tools and equipment (grinders, chippers) are used safely. Enforce PPE usage and housekeeping in fettling areas. Report equipment issues and coordinate minor maintenance. Maintain production and rejection records. Report daily progress, manpower utilization, and downtime to supervisors or managers. Suggest process improvements to reduce defects and cycle time. Participate in 5S, Kaizen, or other lean manufacturing practices.
