Job Description

1. Leadership and Supervision



Team Management

: Lead and supervise bartenders, servers, and barbacks, ensuring smooth coordination.

Training

: Train staff on craft cocktail preparation, presentation, service etiquette, and the bar's unique offerings.

Problem-Solving

: Address any staff or operational issues promptly to maintain service standards.

2. Guest Experience



Exceptional Service

: Ensure guests have a memorable experience by providing personalized recommendations and attention to detail.

Menu Expertise

: Be well-versed in the bar's menu, including the story behind signature cocktails, ingredients, and preparation techniques.

Handling Complaints

: Resolve guest concerns or complaints professionally and effectively to ensure satisfaction.

3. Operational Oversight



Service Flow

: Oversee the flow of service during busy hours, ensuring efficiency without compromising quality.

Inventory Management

: Assist in monitoring inventory levels of spirits, mixers, garnishes, and bar tools, ensuring everything is stocked.

Equipment Maintenance

: Ensure bar equipment and tools are in good working order and report any issues for repair.

4. Craft Cocktail Expertise



Mixology Knowledge

: Demonstrate advanced knowledge of cocktails, spirits, and flavor pairings to guide bartenders and guests.

Quality Assurance

: Oversee cocktail preparation to ensure consistency, quality, and adherence to recipes.

Innovation

: Collaborate with the bar manager or mixologists to develop new cocktails or seasonal menu changes.

5. Team Collaboration



Communication

: Act as a liaison between staff and management, ensuring clear communication of expectations and feedback.

Shift Coordination

: Manage staff schedules, breaks, and role assignments to maintain a balanced workload.

Pre- and Post-Shift Duties

: Lead opening and closing procedures, ensuring readiness and cleanliness.

6. Compliance and Safety



Alcohol Regulations

: Ensure compliance with local liquor laws, including responsible service and checking IDs.

Hygiene Standards

: Uphold cleanliness and safety protocols in all aspects of bar operation.

Crisis Management

: Handle emergencies or disruptions calmly, ensuring guest and staff safety.

7. Financial and Sales Oversight



Upselling

Cash Handling

: Ensure proper cash handling, including monitoring tips, balancing registers, and reporting discrepancies.

Sales Analysis

: Assist in tracking sales trends and identifying popular items or areas for improvement.

8. Events and Promotions



Event Coordination

: Help plan and oversee bar events like themed nights, tastings, or private parties.

Promotional Ideas

: Work with management to suggest and execute creative promotions that align with the bar's brand.
