Boeing India Engineering & Technology Center (BIETC) is based in Bangalore, India and is engaged in the development and support of advanced aerospace and aviation technologies, products, and services. Boeing Research & Technology-India is part of Boeing India Engineering & Technology Center (BIETC, based in Bangalore) focused on innovation, and developing and transitioning new technologies in support of Boeing products and services. We work across the complete product lifecycle of Boeing's commercial aircraft, military aircraft, rotorcraft, space vehicles, UAVs, and advanced vehicle prototypes. The Research & Technology team in Bangalore has an immediate opening for an Associate Materials and Process Engineer to support various Boeing Commercial and Defense programs. The selected Engineer will be part of a small group of Manufacturing Technology Integration (MTI) experts responsible for developing and implementing sophisticated manufacturing technologies and processes into the production systems for Boeing. The MTI team works in the following technical areas associated with production processes: composites and composite part fabrication, metals and detail part fabrication, corrosion and finishes, fasteners and assembly processes. Position Responsibilities:

  • Performing engineering and technical activities in the areas of Materials, Process & Physics for various Boeing Programs
  • Review of Boeing Drawings, part lists, process specifications, substitution list and determine the Engineering requirements in the area of Materials, Process & Physics
  • Update the Boeing specifications for the requested changes
  • Evaluate various Industry specification for materials and suggest alternates to Boeing specification
  • On a need basis coordinating with peers in US and Boeing India Supply base on Materials & Process related issues to support production needs at Boeing supplier production facilities
  • Promoting standardization across Materials & Manufacturing Technology Integration team. Evaluates emerging technologies for potential application to business needs.
  • Closely work with other peers in Materials & Manufacturing Technology Integration team and be focal for driving new business opportunities
Basic Qualifications:
  • Technical bachelor's degree with typically 5+ years related work experience. Master's degree preferred but not a requirement
  • A technical degree is defined as any four year degree, or greater, in a Mechanical, Production, manufacturing and Aerospace field of study.
Desired Skills:
  • Aircraft Structure - Knowledge of aircraft structure, materials strengths and properties, design criteria, loading conditions, and processes (e.g. non destructive testing, corrosion prevention)
  • Analytical Skills (Technical) - Skill and ability to: collect, organize, synthesize, and analyze data; summarize findings; develop conclusions and recommendations from appropriate data sources.
  • Engineering Drawings & Specs - Ability to read, understand, and interpret engineering drawings and specifications (e.g., blueprint/schematic reading, specification, change, design).
  • Engineering Standards - Knowledge of specification format requirements, guidelines, and change control processes. Understanding of relationship between specifications/standards and aircraft/product certification systems.
  • Manufacturing Methods - Knowledge of manufacturing, methods, fabrication processes (e.g., forming, stamping, machining, heat treatment, machines/machine tools, cutting tools and fluids, N/C programming, instrumentation, data acquisition and control systems). Ability to select the best method of producing parts, tools or assemblies.
  • Standard Parts - Knowledge of mechanical fastening/joining systems and associated procurement and process specifications.
  • Proven track record to work in multidiscipline teaming environments
  • Innovation / Creativity - Discovers new opportunities and solutions for problems by looking beyond current practices and using innovative thinking.
  • Customer Focus - Persuasive Speaking Skills and taking responsibilities
  • Self-starter who is not afraid to proactively seek information and direction to successfully complete the statement of work.
  • Strong written, oral, and Business presentation and interpersonal communication skills. Be fluent in written and spoken English, and familiar with MS Office tools.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours (early or late as needed) to interface with Boeing personnel around the world.
Typical Education & Experience:
  • Technical bachelor's degree with typically 5 to 8 years related work experience. Master's degree preferred but not a requirement
